A 61-year-old man was shot dead Saturday morning in an apartment building in the Ville-Marie borough, in Montreal, in what is the 11e murder to occur this year in the metropolis.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was able to confirm on Saturday afternoon that what was initially considered a “suspicious death” was in fact a homicide.
The 60-year-old was found shot in the upper body by a firearm projectile shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday morning in an apartment located on Sainte-Catherine Street, near Beaudry Street, in the Village sector.
The first analyzes carried out later in the day allowed the investigators to confirm the thesis of the murder. The file is in the hands of the major crimes section of the Montreal police force.
No arrest had been made in the middle of the afternoon in connection with this case and the SPVM is continuing its work to elucidate this 11e murder to occur on its territory since the beginning of 2023.
