A little girl died in hospital on Sunday evening after being involved in an incident several hours earlier at the Val Saint-Côme ski resort in the Lanaudière region.
The death of the six-year-old girl was confirmed Monday morning by the Sûreté du Québec, which opened an investigation into this tragedy, which left no other injured.
The tragedy occurred around 9:30 a.m. Already, during his transport to the hospital, the life of the young victim was in danger according to what the emergency services reported.
The circumstances of what happened were not yet known on Monday. Police said the incident involved a T-bar surface lift, but were unable to say more.
For its part, the management of the Val Saint-Côme ski center confirmed that the accident involving the young skier occurred during her ascent in the surface lift.
Access to the mountain has been closed for Sunday evening skiing so, it is said, the ski center can offer all possible support to its teams.
The Sûreté du Québec has delegated investigators and forensic identification technicians to shed light on what happened.
The Val-Saint-Côme ski center is located about 65 kilometers northwest of Joliette.
