A 53-year-old farmer dies trapped under his tractor in Sinzos, near Tarbes

The inhabitants of the town of Sinzos (Hautes-Pyrénées), near Tarbes, are in shock. A 53-year-old farmer died this Saturday evening, around 7 p.m. He was in one of his cornfields, alone, carrying out irrigation operations. For reasons still unknown, his tractor overturned. He then found himself stuck underneath. Despite the intervention of firefighters, the man could not be revived.

The victim was very popular in the small town of 150 inhabitants, he was also the father of two teenagers. An investigation has been opened to clarify the circumstances of this tragedy.

The mayor speaks of a man “passionate about his job”

Didier Lacassagne is the mayor of the town of Sinzos, but also the brother-in-law of the victim. It evokes a man “who always had the joy of living”. He was passionate about his job as a farmer, to the point of being a trainer at the agricultural school in Vic-en-Bigorre where he liked to pass on his knowledge.
