a 47-year-old man indicted after the death of his mother in Nay

After two days in police custody, a 47-year-old man was brought to Pau on Friday. He and his partner had been arrested Wednesday evening after the death of a 65-year-old woman,
in an apartment located in Nay. The Pau prosecutor’s office announces that the man, the son of the deceased woman, is indicted but the exact reasons for the death are still unknown from the mother. The prosecution requested the placement in pre-trial detention.

Cause of death remains undetermined

This 47-year-old man is indicted for violence resulting in death without intention to give it. He is suspected of having hit his mother, of having kicked her which led to her death without his wanting it.

The son admits having kicked in a context of altercation between the two. He said his mother was conscious when he left the house. It happened at her home, in downtown Nay, in an apartment on rue Clémenceau.

The first results of the autopsy were sent on Friday but are not conclusive. Additional analyzes will have to be carried out to understand the causal link between death and violence. It is a question of verifying if there was indeed a single blow, as the man prosecuted asserts, or several blows.

The son arrested in Tarbes

The woman was pronounced dead around 5 p.m. Firefighters were alerted around 4 p.m. Her son was no longer in Nay when help arrived. The gendarmes were looking for him all day. He was arrested in Tarbes around 8 p.m., then placed in police custody, just like his partner. He would have explained to the investigators that he was not hiding.

Both were heard until Friday. The man was presented to a judge in the evening. His companion was able to leave, she is not being prosecuted. They are part of the community of travelers established for a long time in the commune of Nay, as Mayor Bruno Bourdaa pointed out.
