A 40-year-old loses his life in a fire in Trois-Rivières

A man in his forties lost his life in a fire overnight from Friday to Saturday, in Trois-Rivières.

The Trois-Rivières Police Department was alerted around 4 a.m. to a fire in an apartment building on rue de la Vérendrye, near Highway 40.

“Once the fire was brought under control, a body was found in the rubble,” said Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokeswoman Béatrice Dorsainville. The person was found dead at the hospital.”

SQ investigators and fire scene technicians are on site to determine the circumstances of the events. The SQ, however, did not specify the cause of the fire.

In addition, another fire also considered suspicious was started in a garage located behind a building on rue de La Vérendrye. The SQ was unable to link the two events on Saturday afternoon.

The investigation is continuing.
