A 40-year-old carried away by the Batiscan River

Saturday evening, around 7 p.m., a man was swept away by the waves of the Batiscan River near Notre-Dame-de-Montauban. The 40-year-old man was trying to swim across the stream accompanied by another person when he was lost to sight.

The police and the MRC Mékinac fire department began the search on Saturday on the river and its banks, but without success. Sunday morning, a command post, walkers, divers, as well as the Sûreté du Québec helicopter were sent to the scene to continue the search.
