A 34-year-old man was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention, suspected of having raped a 19-year-old young woman on Tuesday, December 5 in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche), France Bleu Cotentin learned on Monday, December 11 with the city’s public prosecutor, Pierre-Yves Marot.
On Tuesday, December 5, around 3 p.m., this woman was attacked in the street and then digitally raped on the public highway. After a complaint filed by this young woman, the individual was arrested the next day, then placed in police custody. Brought before a judge, he was indicted for rape and placed in pre-trial detention.
The man denies the facts. However, personal effects of the complainant were found in her vehicle, but also others, in the name of another young woman aged 18. She had only a few days earlier filed a complaint in Gennevilliers, in the Paris region, also for rape.
The Cherbourg public prosecutor explains that this second case therefore falls under the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office.
