A 28-year-old man kills his mother to… get his inheritance sooner than expected

Nathan Carman, 28, is today facing justice for the murder of his mother. The young man would have taken action in 2016 during a sea trip off the coast of the state of Rhode Island. After the assassination of Linda Carman, her son would have made sure to sink the boat to remove any suspicion. It was only 8 days later that the culprit was found safe and sound aboard an inflatable boat.

Suspected of the murder of his grandfather

Three years before the tragedy, Nathan Carman was already suspected of the murder of his grandfather. John Chakalos had been shot dead at his Connecticut property. Then aged 19, his grandson had not been charged. To date, American justice considers that these ” two murders were part of a scheme to obtain money and hold the property of John Chakalos and family funds”.

The body of Nathan Carman’s mother has never been found. The authorities are therefore unable to determine the cause of the mother’s death. On the other hand, they can affirm that the boat was well and truly sunk intentionally. The Associated Press reports that as his mother’s sole heir, he would have received $7 million. His grandfather had made his fortune in particular by building and renting retirement homes and by managing numerous real estate projects.

According to the latest elements of the investigation, Nathan and Linda Carman maintained a ” strained relationship “, explains the New York Times. The victim’s son was arrested on Tuesday before being indicted the next day. If convicted of murdering his mother, Nathan Carman faces life in prison. To be continued…
