A 27-year-old woman dies in a collision in Shefford

(Granby) A 27-year-old woman lost her life after an accident in Shefford, Estrie, Saturday shortly after noon.


She was driving her car which was hit by a van. The driver of the latter would have lost control of his vehicle in a curve before hitting it.

The driver of the car, a woman from Shefford who was alone on board, was transported unconscious to the Granby Hospital, where she was declared dead, specifies the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), Stéphane Tremblay .

The collision happened on North Saxby Road around 12:25 p.m.

The people on board the van, a toddler and his parents, were transported as a preventive measure to the Fleurimont Hospital in Sherbrooke.

The road was closed between chemin Ostiguy and boulevard David-Bouchard. An investigation is underway to establish the causes and circumstances of this accident.

According to the SQ, the roadway was covered in black ice.
