(Montreal) A 25-year-old man was seriously injured after an armed attack in Montreal on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred on Wolfe Street, near René-Lévesque Boulevard East, in the Centre-Sud district.

However, the victim’s life was out of danger during the last update of his state of health, revealed by the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) on Saturday evening.

Police arrived on scene after a 911 call was made around 5:30 p.m. regarding a bleeding man in the street.

They then saw “a man on the ground exposing injuries to his lower body made by a sharp object,” said Sabrina Gauthier, spokesperson for the SPVM.

The man was taken to hospital and his life was feared in the afternoon.

The suspect(s) had already fled when the police arrived, but witnesses were met and surveillance cameras were viewed.

The SPVM indicated that the canine unit as well as investigators analyzed the scene.

Wolfe Street between Saint-Catherine Street East and René-Lévesque Boulevard East is now reopened to traffic.
