A 22-year-old young man was seriously injured on Monday April 17 in Bourges after refusing to comply, France Bleu Berry learned. The young man was hospitalized in Tours between life and death after crashing his scooter into a pole, around 11:30 p.m., in the northern districts of Bourges, confirms the prosecution. An investigation has been opened to clarify the circumstances of this accident.

Two young people were on the damaged scooter. The vehicle had no license plate and both the driver and the passenger were without helmets, according to the authorities, which led to a check by municipal police officers.

The police were not pursuing the fleeing scooter at the time of the accident, indicates the Bourges town hall, which however reminds that the investigation is still ongoing. As for whether a tear gas shot was the cause of the accident, as mentioned in the press, the Bourges public prosecutor, Céline Visiedo, believes that“It is still too early” to answer this question.
