A 22-year-old man was sentenced to one year in prison and one year of probation for having done urban rodeos in Marseille and for having promoted this practice on social networks, indicates the public prosecutor’s office of the city in a communicated on Wednesday.
He was arrested last July after eight months of investigation. In December 2021, officers from the Departmental Motorcycling and Road Safety Company spotted a person standing on the saddle of a two-wheeler as she wheeled backwards, while driving on Marseille’s L2 ring road, also called A507 motorway. They chased him for several hundred meters and then the two-wheeler turned around and took a wrong-way exit from the highway.
A preliminary investigation was then opened. Several months later, investigators managed to identify the 22-year-old young man and establish that he had done other rodeos between November 2021 and June 2022. They also found videos of his acrobatics on social networks, which, according to justice, amounts to a promotion of dangerous behavior.
The Marseille Criminal Court sentenced him to one year in prison and one year suspended probation for driving compromising safety and promoting this behavior, driving without a license, refusing to comply and insulting a person holding public authority. .
