A 22-year-old young woman died in a kayaking accident on Tuesday July 25 around 3:30 p.m. in the Isère river, near Landry, in Savoie, reports France Bleu Pays de Savoie. The fatal accident occurred during a sports outing as part of a sports stay organized by the UCPA (National Union of Outdoor Sports Centers). The victim, originally from the Paris suburbs, was part of the management of a group of 32 young people: she was on an internship to become a kayak instructor. Four other people framed the group with her.
The firefighters hired were unable to save the young woman, who remained stuck underwater, stuck under a rock for about fifteen minutes. The Albertville prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to understand what happened and determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy. It could be a work accident, the status of the victim at the time of the accident is not yet clarified.
The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmes of the Aime-la-Plagne brigade. A psychological cell must be set up for the members of the group and the witnesses of the accident.
