A 20-year-old man dies in a collision in Estrie

(Ascot Corner) A head-on collision between two vehicles caused one death and one serious injury on Friday evening at Ascot Corner, in the Eastern Townships.

The drivers of a sedan and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided on Route 112 around 8 p.m. for a reason that remains unknown, according to the Sûreté du Québec.

The driver of the sedan, a 20-year-old man, who allegedly strayed from his lane, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His death was pronounced on Saturday morning.

The man driving the SUV was also transported to the Sherbrooke University Hospital Center for serious injuries, but his life would not be in danger, said SQ information officer Laura Hervé.
