Beware of scams if you have to sell your car to an individual! This is the message from the La Rochelle police. Latest example: Wednesday, October 26, around 9 p.m., a young woman sells her Audi A1 in La Rochelle. The buyer asks him to try it on. She ends up leaving him alone behind the wheel. Bad idea: he takes off with a bang and immediately flees.
A few minutes later, a police car tries to intercept him. A chase follows in the streets of La Rochelle. The driver is finally arrested, trapped in a dead end. He is a 16 year old boy. Already known to have stolen a scooter in the same circumstances. He was released and will soon be presented to a juvenile judge.
