This is one of Mayenne’s hopeful pilots, Luca Chauvière, 15, has been taking part since the start of the year in the French Motorcycle Championship in the 125 CC category. Saturday August 6 and Sunday August 7, 2022, he will participate in his 6th race on the legendary Magny-Cours circuit south of Nevers in the Nièvre. Currently, young Luca is 9th overall out of 13 riders.
At only 15 years old, Luca discovers motorsport and the many trips during the season. Even if he is not yet at the level of the best of his age, he is already satisfied with his performance. “It’s already an achievement for me in this first year in a championship like this”, explains the young man from Mayenne. “For the next races, the objective is to gain a few places, to have confidence in myself and in the bike”he says.

And to become one of the best of his generation, Luca is inspired by the legends of his sport. “Since I was little, I’ve been a big fan of Valentino Rossi, 9 times Moto GP world champion. It’s really him who makes me dream and my goal is to replace him”argues the young boy with stars in his eyes.

So being one of the 27 Moto GP riders, the premier category of the discipline, requires a lot of work but also a lot of money. His motorcycle already costs 9,000 euros to which we add the price of the license, travel, registration for races. Just for this year, the budget is close to 25,000 euros and the higher you climb the ladder, the more expensive it is.
“We are ready for anything for our son”explains his dad Sébastien. “Certainly it’s a dangerous passion but hey, to succeed you have to take some risks”, reassures his parents. Risks, Luca will take more next season because he intends to ride a 400 CC motorcyclemore powerful, just that.
