A 10-year-old girl hit by a motorist in Lachine

A 10-year-old girl was hit by a motorist in the borough of Lachine, in Montreal, on Wednesday, at the end of the day. She was quickly taken to hospital and there are fears for her life.

Around 3 p.m., a car traveling east on rue Saint-Antoine collided with a young girl who was crossing the street at 32nd Avenue.

“The victim, a 10-year-old girl, tried to cross at a place where there was no pedestrian crossing,” said a spokesperson for the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Sabrina Gauthier. . The girl was found unconscious by first responders before being taken to hospital. His condition “is considered critical”.

The driver, a 55-year-old man, was still at the scene an hour after the accident. He was in a state of shock.

The speed limit is 30 km/h in the area. A security perimeter was erected around the scene and an investigation was launched to understand all the circumstances surrounding the event. Witnesses are currently being questioned.
