Canadian, British and American veterans who survived the D-Day landings are back in Normandy. They will participate in the commemorations of June 6, 1944. An open-air museum is being set up in the Sainte-Mère-Église area.

They are soldiers, veterans, resistance fighters or nurses. A leap in time to launch the 80th anniversary of the Allied Landings in Normandy. 250 history buffs are present with their equipment on Saturday June 1 in Sainte-Mère-Église (Manche). It costs 4,000 euros for the complete equipment. The goal is to push realism to the extreme. “Museums are good, but when you see it in real life, it brings a lot more things“, testifies a visitor.

The last armored vehicles appeared the day before. Parking a tank weighing several tons is a delicate operation. Reenactment is a way of life for some. For a few days, meet up with friends, set up camp, get a taste of the hard life of a soldier. The camp will be in place until June 9.
