“This new subsidiary will allow us to deploy technologies and maintenance services which are key, both for EDF and for other nuclear operators, in France and internationally”, rejoices Friday May 31 in a press release Luc Rémont, CEO of EDF. After two years of negotiations, EDF bought nuclear activities from General Electric. The announcement was made Thursday evening by Emmanuel Macron.
“The completion of this acquisition follows the exclusivity agreement concluded between EDF and GE on February 10, 2022, the definitive agreement signed on November 4, 2022 and the lifting of all conditions precedent”, explains EDF in its press release.
“This acquisition allows the EDF group to enrich itself with key technologies and skills for the nuclear sector and European energy security. These activities, employing approximately 3,300 employees, will be under the management of Arabelle Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary. % by EDF”adds the company in its press release.
Luc Rémont emphasizes that this acquisition “accompanies the relaunch of the construction of nuclear reactors, which Europe needs for its decarbonization and its energy sovereignty, with a fully autonomous European industrial sector”.
Arabelle Solutions “strengthens our industrial control of the nuclear value chain alongside Framatome”, adds the CEO of EDF. Bernard Fontana, president of Framatome, is appointed chairman of the board of directors of Arabelle Solutions. “We are delighted to join the EDF group and look forward to strengthening our long-standing partnership”reacts the president of Arabelle Solutions, Frédéric Wiscart.
