Three people were killed and 23 injured in Russian strikes in Kharkiv, regional authorities announced Friday, May 31. The country’s second city, located in the North-East, is the almost daily target of bombings coming mainly from Russian territory. A five-story building was hit. Two civilians died in this building in the Novobavarsky district, said Mayor Ihor Terekhov. Other people could still be under the rubble. “The enemy once again resorted to the double strike tactic, while doctors, rescuers and law enforcement were already there”, assured Oleh Sinegoubov to a local newspaper, affirming that among the injured is an emergency doctor. Another person died in another strike.

North Korean missiles used in Ukraine. Russia is using North Korean ballistic missiles in Ukraine, says a new Pentagon report based on the analysis of debris found in January in the Kharkiv region. The Defense Intelligence Agency compared images broadcast by North Korean state media with photographs of these missile fragments discovered in Ukraine.

Germany provides new aid to Ukraine. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius promised a new package worth 500 million euros on Thursday. The official made the announcement during an unannounced visit to the port city of Odessa, where he held talks with his counterpart Roustem Umerov.
