Côte-des-Neiges | Projectile impacts discovered at Jewish school

(Montreal) Another Jewish school received gunshots in the Côtes-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough, in Montreal.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) indicated that it had seen two bullet holes on the facade of a school on Hillsdale Road, at the corner of Van Horne Avenue, Wednesday at 6 p.m. The only school on the way is the Belz Orthodox Jewish school.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians were on scene Wednesday evening to determine the circumstances surrounding the event.

No person was injured, said the SPVM.

“Everything suggests that the event would have occurred previously,” said Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the SPVM.

Stage protection is in progress.

Valérie Plante was outraged by the event on her X account.

“It is completely unacceptable that a Jewish school is once again targeted. Anti-Semitism has no place in Montreal,” she wrote.

She is confident that the SPVM will find “once again the guilty person.” »

Later, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the event disgusting. “I am relieved that there (are) no injuries, but I think of the parents and residents of Montreal who are certainly shaken. This is anti-Semitism, pure and simple, and we will not let him win. »

The Council of Hasidic Jews said on its Facebook page that its members are “appalled” and “saddened.”

“We must work together to combat hatred and violence and ensure that our community can worship and live in peace and safety. »
