The police evacuated on Tuesday May 28 in the morning a camp where there were around a hundred young migrants near Pont-Marie in Paris, an announcement on X Utopia 56. A few weeks before the Paris 2024 Games, the association denounces on franceinfo a “social cleansing”and an increase in evacuations of migrant camps.

The association assures that these minors were offered to be transferred to reception centers in Lyon (Rhône). Most being in Paris to have their minority recognized, they refused to get on the bus and “find themselves wandering the streets again” of the capital.

Utopia 56 also accuses “the Ministry of the Interior [de] divert[r] the ‘terrorist risk’ to justify the operation”. Indeed, the decree of the Paris police headquarters of May 25, consulted by franceinfo, stipulates that “the hardening of the Vigipirate posture associated with the evolution of the state of the threat in France means that a particular effort will be made on the security of places of worship, public and institutional buildings and their surroundings”. However, the camp is located, according to the text, near “buildings of the administrative court of Paris, the Cité internationale des arts and the Saint-Gervais church”.

The decree also mentions “basic sanitary conditions” And “risks to public health and the health of occupants”, due in particular to the fact that the “public toilets installed near the camp are saturated and out of working order” and there is no “access to water, toilets and waste disposal systems”.
