At one time, vans had become symbols of freedom, particularly popular with surfers. Today, due to lack of means, some enthusiasts are content with smaller vehicles. A workshop, which produces kits to transform your car, is overwhelmed with requests.
After their day of work, Stéphanie and Cédric Jolivet are on their way to an impromptu dinner with their vehicle converted into a van. “The advantage is that it’s our everyday car. And tonight, it’s transformed into a little kitchen on wheels and hotel”, explains Cédric. Arriving at a nearby vineyard, a table appears in the blink of an eye. Removable wooden blocks allow you to transform the car as you wish. The whole thing cost 3,500 euros.
Inside there is a bed and all the accessories for camping. This lifestyle is gaining more and more fans, with kits available from 900 euros. They are made with local wood in a workshop near Angers (Maine-et-Loire), for 140 different vehicle models. At the moment, there are many orders for the fifteen employees. The market has doubled in one year.
