An Israeli strike on a Palestinian refugee camp in Rafah, in the Gaza Strip, on Sunday May 26, reportedly left 45 dead. The strike sparked global outrage.

It’s a chaos of flames and screams in the night. The tent, wood and sheet metal shelters are taken away in a few minutes. Rescuers are trying to extract men, women and children. According to witnesses, the explosion was sudden and fire followed. Monday May 27, the day after the Israeli strike on the Rafah camp in the Gaza Strip, the displaced wandered through the rubble. The Israeli army says it was targeting two Hamas officials here. It is not known whether they were killed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to investigate the facts. “Despite our immense efforts not to harm civilians, a tragedy has unfortunately occurred, we are investigating this incident”, did he declare. The condemnations come this Monday from all over the world. Emmanuel Macron said to himself “unworthy” and recalled that “these operations must stop”. The High Commissioner for Human Rights at the United Nations said, “horrified”.
