Four children aged 2 to 6 were discovered alone without any adult on Sunday May 26, in their apartment in Reims (Marne), Wilson district. They cooked on the ground in the middle of excrement, France Bleu Champagne-Ardenne revealed on Monday. The mother and her partner, who is not their father, were arrested when they returned to the apartment on Sunday evening.
According to information from France Bleu Champagne-Ardenne, they were hospitalized on the evening of May 26, at the Reims University Hospital, for observation. It was the firefighters and the police who found these four children alone.
A neighbor of the family contacted the firefighters at the end of the day. The mother and her companion, both aged around thirty, were placed in police custody at the Reims police station.
At this time, it is unknown why the couple was not present in the apartment or exactly how long the children were left alone. According to the Reims prosecutor, the mother and her partner are in a civil partnership and the man was referred last October for domestic violence and violence against these children.
