Two young women wearing a headscarf were violently attacked by another spectator, says the Her Game Too France association, Monday May 27. They came to watch the broadcast of the PSG-OL Coupe de France final on Saturday May 25 at Groupama Stadium, near Lyon. Images of the attack have been circulating since Monday morning on social networks, initially with a report on X from a witness present nearby on the lawn, in the middle of the overheated public.

A supporter present in the front row in front of the screen “hit one of them and tried to tear off the veil from the other”explains this witness in a series of messages on X, which sparked a cascade of reactions, some threatening, and pushed OL to publish a press release. “The two girls call a security guy, who seems like he doesn’t understand, nothing happened (shame on you @OL for having stewards like him”), he says, saying he is ready to testify.

Olympique Lyonnais “strongly condemns the violence which took place on Saturday evening at Groupama Stadium”, “provides all its support to the victims” and will accompany them “in their complaint by becoming a civil party alongside them”reacted the club in a press release published on X. “This unacceptable and shocking behavior has no place” at OL, it is written.

“No form of violence has any place in a stadium”, for its part reacted on X the Her Game Too France association, dedicated to the fight against sexism in the stands, which served as an interface between the club and the victims. The most upset victim, a 24-year-old supporter living in the Lyon metropolitan area, intends to file a complaint as soon as possible, Anoush Morel, president of Her Game Too France, told AFP.
