Moscow continues its advance in eastern Ukraine. Russia claimed, Monday, May 27, to have taken two new locations in the regions of Donetsk and Kharkiv (Ukraine), continuing its push in these two sectors in the face of a Ukrainian army in difficulty. The Russian Defense Ministry says it has “liberated the village” of Netaïlové, in the Donetsk region, as well as the locality of Ivanivka, in that of Kharkiv, further north, in a press release.

In recent months, Russia has been gaining ground in Ukraine, after regaining the initiative with the failure of the Ukrainian counter-offensive in the summer of 2023 and the capture of the fortress town of Avdiïvka in February. Over the past two days, Russian troops had claimed the capture of the villages of Berestové and Arkhangelské, also in eastern Ukraine.

To do this, it recruited heavily by offering attractive sales and mobilized the military production system to support its war effort. In addition, the Russian army launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region on May 10, seizing several localities and pushing kyiv to send valuable reinforcements there. However, Ukrainian authorities said on Friday that the advance of the Russian army had been “arrested” in this area.
