For Olivier Giroud, top scorer in the history of the Blues, the time for international retirement has come. The striker will leave the France team after Euro 2024.
It’s official. At 37, Olivier Giroud will retire from international football at the end of Euro 2024. The striker is to date the top scorer in the history of the France team: he has scored 57 goals in 131 selections.
The AC Milan striker will join the club from Los Angeles, in the United States, at the end of Euro football 2024 which is being played in Germany from June 14 to July 14. In the columns of the newspaper The TeamOlivier Giroud justifies his choice. “We live at 200 miles an hour, we don’t have much time for family. There are five gatherings in the season, it seems complicated to me”he explains. “We must leave room for young people (…) You also have to know not to overdo the season.”.
