A human error | The duty

A human error caused 5,700 patients in Quebec to be ignored by the health system: their requests for specialty consultations were literally ignored. Quite a mistake.

Why not send the patient an acknowledgment of receipt of the consultation request, and even a copy of it, so that he can check that his contact details (telephone number, address, email address if applicable) ) are indeed noted as well as providing a telephone number or at least an email address to contact in the event that he is obliged to modify his contact details (moving, etc.)? This is certainly disturbing… “ Don’t call us, we will call you » seems the way of working in our health system.

This policy must stop. The patient must be able to know where their file stands and what their test results are. Follow-up is essential.
