Heavy fighting is underway in Rafah. Strike kills two in displaced persons camp from this town in the south of the Gaza Strip, said the city’s Kuwaiti hospital on Saturday, May 18. Witnesses reported heavy gunfire and shelling in the southeast and eastern districts of Rafah.
After months of bombings and operations which caused massive destruction in the north and center of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army entered Rafah, a southern town on the Egyptian border, at the beginning of May, where more than a million Palestinians. Furthermore, in the north of the Gaza Strip, fighting has also resumed. AFP correspondents, witnesses and doctors reported intense fighting overnight from Friday to Saturday in the Jabalia refugee camp, north of Gaza City.
After days of blockade, humanitarian aid was delivered to the Gaza Strip via a temporary floating jetty built by the United States. More than 300 pallets of humanitarian aid have been unloaded, the Israeli army reported on Saturday. However, the main land crossing points are closed or operating slowly due to the fighting.
