The driver of the truck involved in the road accident which caused the death of Coluche in June 1986, Albert Ardisson, died this Wednesday at the age of 85, his family announced on social networks. The news was announced by his granddaughter on Facebook.
Albert Ardisson, nicknamed “Bébert”, lived in Carros (Alpes-Maritimes) for many years. In 2013, he agreed to be interviewed by the weekly Le Petit Niçois, talking about his trauma and the depression he went through after the accident.
On June 19, 1986, Coluche was killed at the age of 41, on a departmental road between Cannes and Opio. The comedian and founder of Restos du coeur was hit by a 38-ton truck and died instantly. A few minutes after the accident, Albert Ardisson reacted on France 3 Côte d’Azur: “I tell you he was going very fast”, ensuring not to have seen the comedian. Tried for manslaughter, he was sentenced on March 10, 1988 by the Grasse criminal court to a fine of 1,000 francs, or approximately 150 euros.
