DIRECT. Attack on a prison van in Eure: the inmate still wanted

Emotions run high among prison staff on Wednesday, May 15, the day after the death of two officers in the violent attack, at the Incarville tollbooth in Eure, of a van transporting an offender who was he escaped. Many prison centers blocked. As a sign of “support” to the two officials killed and the three others injured, all the union organizations of the prison administration called for a day “Dead Prisons”. Amiens, Caen, Pau, Montluçon, Béziers, Marseille… Many remand centers have been blocked since 6 a.m. this morning.

The inter-union will be received by Eric Dupond-Moretti. The Minister of Justice, who called for a minute of silence in all jurisdictions at 11 a.m., will receive the prison inter-union unions at 2 p.m. This includes FO Justice, Ufap-Unsa Justice, the CGT Pénitentiaire and the Penitentiary Union of Supervisors (SPS).

A multi-convicted inmate. The van was transporting Mohamed Amra, aged 30, so that he could be heard by an investigating judge at the Rouen judicial court. “His accomplices fired on the escorts with heavy weapons”, specified the Minister of Justice. The inmate was serving several sentences for “organized rodeos” and flights “with break-in”. He is also indicted for “kidnapping and sequestration resulting in death”.

The Epervier plan has been lifted. The Epervier plan, triggered immediately after the attack and which can last a maximum of 4 hours, was lifted, France Télévisions learned from the gendarmerie. The GIGN team, which went to the site, remains mobilized to participate in the hunt for the escapee and his accomplices.
