An equipment breakdown forced the interruption of services from the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec

The services of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) finally resumed on Tuesday at the start of the afternoon, after having been interrupted in the morning due to an “equipment breakdown”.

The state company’s service points and portals were closed in the morning due to a failure affecting the computer system, it was explained on the home page.

In a press release, the SAAQ indicated that activities had restarted around 12:30 p.m. on the web and in person.

The state-owned company clarified that this technical glitch “has nothing to do with its digital transformation”.

The problem is linked to the server, and the SAAQ asked IBM to provide it with a plan to limit the damage next time.

“The SAAQ reminds that all customers who had an appointment received another one. They will thus be able to complete their transactions as quickly as possible,” she added.

The SAAQ was badly damaged during the deployment of its digital platform in the winter of 2023, which was marked by several failures.

Launched in February 2023, SAAQclic was presented as a platform that would allow customers to carry out most transactions online, including renewing a driving license, paying for registration or making an appointment for a test. driving, among other things.

Its launch, however, was fraught with pitfalls. The SAAQ service centers, among other things, had to be closed for two weeks to allow the transition, which led to long queues when they reopened.
