MPs observed a minute of silence before the government question session on Tuesday afternoon. Two prison officers died in a van attack in Eure and three others were seriously injured.
“The perpetrators of this criminal attack must not go unpunished.” The President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, introduced the question session to the government at the National Assembly, Tuesday, May 14, with a minute of silence to pay tribute to the civil servants murdered in the exercise of their duties , during the attack on a prison van in Eure.
“The vans came under fire from heavy weapons which cost the lives of two prison administration officers. One of them left behind a wife and two children. The other, a woman who was 5 months pregnant”detailed Yaël Braun-Pivet to the deputies. Three other seriously injured officers are currently hospitalized.”

The attack took place shortly after 11 a.m. at the Incarville tollbooth, when the detainee was being transferred from Evreux prison to the Rouen court. The Minister of Justice said it was the first time since 1992 that a prison officer had been killed in the line of duty. The prison convoy had no police or gendarmerie escort. Escorts are mainly reserved for particularly monitored prisoners (DPS). However, this was not the case for Mohamed Amra, the detainee now on the run.
