One more year for the oldest man in France. Maurice Le Coutour celebrated his 110th birthday on Sunday May 12 in Gouberville (Manche). Nearly 100 people, family and friends, came united to celebrate this supercentenary. “If I look right away at the life I had until I was 110, it wasn’t too bad”confides the man who was born on May 12, 1914 in Gouberville, a village that he almost never left.
He experienced two wars
The dean of the French is the pride of all. Maurice Le Coutour was born the same year as Louis de Funès and Marguerite Duras. This former grocer from Cherbourg (Manche) experienced two wars and participated in terrible fighting in the Dunkirk pocket in 1940. The date has already been set for next year to celebrate, this time, the 111th anniversary.
