(Calgary) Canada triumphed 2-1 against the United States to win the World Para Hockey Championship on Sunday.
The Canadians therefore prevented their rivals from winning a fourth consecutive title, while winning their first gold medal on home soil.
It was the first time since 2017 that Canada won the tournament. It was a fourth gold medal for the country.
Dominic Cozzolino and Anton Jacobs-Webb scored for Canada, which saw their goaltender Adam Kingsmill turn away 24 pucks.
Declan Farmer scored for the Americans. Jen Lee blocked seven shots.
In the semi-finals, the United States beat the Czech Republic 3-1 and Canada defeated China 2-1.
The Czech Republic won the bronze final by beating China 3-2 earlier Sunday.
It was a seventh straight final between Canada and the United States.
Cozzolino gave his team the lead after just 35 seconds of play, with his seventh goal of the tournament.
The Americans led 7-1 in shots after one period and 11-5 after two periods.
