Stars 4 – Avalanche 1 | Logan Stankoven and Tyler Seguin score doubles

(Denver) Logan Stankoven and Tyler Seguin scored doubles and the Dallas Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 on Saturday to take a 2-1 lead in this second round series.

Both players hit the target, beating Alexander Georgiev once, then added to the Texas team’s lead in an empty cage.

Jake Oettinger turned away 28 of the 29 pucks he faced, only being thwarted by Mikko Rantanen. At the other end of the ice, Georgiev made 19 saves.

The fourth game will take place Monday in Denver.

Stankoven opened the scoring at 18:39 of the first period. Miro Heiskanen took advantage of an Avalanche turnover to recover the puck and put it back to Stankoven, who scored his first career playoff goal.

Rantanen tied the game at 10:24 of the second period. Well placed in front of Oettinger, he only had to push the puck into the net after an individual effort from Nathan MacKinnon.

Seguin, however, restored the lead to the Texas club at 15:13. Oettinger came out of his net to avoid the disallowed clearance, then a few moments later, former Montreal Canadiens player Evgenii Dadonov put the puck back in Seguin, who scored his second goal in as many games.

Seguin and Stankoven, in order, then added to the visitors’ lead while Georgiev was on the bench for the benefit of a sixth skater.
