Thousands of women in France have preferred not to become mothers. Laetitia Bernard, 27, explains that this choice goes back many years. “Even before, when I was still studying (…), I didn’t have this desire“, she explains. To put an end to poorly tolerated contraception and the anxiety of getting pregnant, she made the decision to be sterilized.
The in-laws struggle to accept his sterilization
“I don’t want to be pregnant at all, I don’t want to have a dependent child“, adds this bakery saleswoman. Her mother understands and supports this decision. “There are a lot of young girls who don’t want to be mothers. I find that in our time, women are no longer the object woman, housewife, mother… We have evolved“, she explains. The family of Bastien, her partner, welcomes the decision with more skepticism. Bastien, for his part, explains that he has evolved with her and does not want children either.
