Russia launched an offensive on the Kharkiv region early in the morning of Friday May 10. She is trying to break through the Ukrainian defense lines. The region had not been targeted since October 2022. That same evening, the White House announced an additional $400 million in aid.

White House announces $400 million in aid
At the same time, around 5 a.m., the Russian army launched a large-scale offensive in the region. This Russian operation would aim to create a buffer zone to prevent Ukraine from striking the Russian region of Belgorod. Volodymyr Zelensky, who received the Slovak president on Friday May 10, assured him: the Ukrainian army had prepared to face this offensive. Evacuations of civilians were ordered in certain localities in the region. The White House, for its part, announced additional military aid of $400 million to assist Ukraine.
