Emmanuel Macron and the Chinese president are expected in the Pyrenees on Tuesday May 7. On site, everyone gets ready, especially the restaurateur who will welcome them for lunch.
Tuesday May 7, an unprecedented summit meeting will take place at the Col du Tourmalet (Hautes-Pyrénées) between the Chinese President and Emmanuel Macron. The road to access it is already closed, Monday May 6. “It’s going to create huge publicity! We need to revive this whole place which had a great era in the industry”, rejoices a resident of Bagnères-de-Bigorre (Hautes-Pyrénées). Most locals are indeed expecting economic benefits for the region, in particular for the classification of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre as a UNESCO world heritage site.
A local menu
The restaurateur who will welcome the two heads of state has already planned the menu. Thus, the two presidents will eat black pork ham, lamb shoulder and Tarbes beans. For dessert, the owner of the place will offer them a blueberry pie. Outside the establishment, the Chinese presidential delegation has been omnipresent for more than two weeks.
