In this war which has lasted for almost 7 months, Israel has been the subject of criticism, particularly for its use of AI. This is the first time an army has used AI to kill.

The investigation is based on 6 testimonies from active agents of the IDF’s elite cyber intelligence division, which uses Lavender. For a person targeted at their home, the number of collateral victims deemed acceptable by the IDF is 15 to 20 people. If the target is very high value, it goes from 200 to 300 people. Artificial intelligence does not order killing, but the soldier must act urgently as soon as the system gives him a name. This modus operandi worries the UN and human rights associations. This is the first time that artificial intelligence has been used on a large scale by an army.
