A high school student from Mont-de-Marsan sentenced to suspended prison sentence after false bomb threats targeting his establishment

A young 18-year-old from Landes was sentenced on Thursday May 2 to six months in prison and 210 hours of community service by the Mont-de-Marsan court, reports France Bleu Gascogne. The young man was found guilty of sending 18 false bomb threats by email to his high school between last January and March. These messages mentioned explosives or contained allusions of a terrorist nature. The Robert-Wlérick high school had to be evacuated six times.

During the investigation, the high school student explained that he had made these false threats to escape controls. An expertise was carried out and revealed a “mild mental retardation” and an “obvious immaturity”.

After sending the emails, the young man went to a disciplinary council in his high school and was permanently excluded from the establishment. The court also imposed an obligation of care.
