The bullet which injured Kendji Girac was fired from inside the caravan where the singer was at the time of the incident, France Télévisions learned from the gendarmerie on Wednesday April 24. He was alone with his wife when the shooting took place.

The singer will be heard in the afternoon at the hospital. Until then, he had not been formally interviewed by investigators, his state of health not allowing it, according to the Mont-de-Marsan public prosecutor’s office. He had only answered a few questions from the police on Monday morning, claiming to have injured himself by accident. His wife must also be interviewed again, to be confronted with her first statements, specifies the gendarmerie.

Kendji Girac was hospitalized in serious condition early Monday morning after being shot in the chest at the Biscarrosse travel area in Landes. He is treated in Pessac, at the Haut-Lévêque hospital. An investigation into “attempted intentional homicide” has been opened and involves around fifteen gendarmes.
