13% of strikers in primary and 9% in secondary, according to the rectorate

The teachers of Seine-Saint-Denis resume their mobilization, Monday April 22, after returning from vacation, at the call of an inter-union. The Créteil rectorate has 13% of strikers in nursery and primary schools and 9% of strikers in middle and high schools, reports France Bleu Paris. The unions, for their part, claim a rate of 30% of strikers.

Demonstrators gathered at Place du Trocadéro, in Paris, at the start of the afternoon, to demand a “emergency plan for education”. There was also a demonstration in the morning in front of the town hall of Le Raincy (Seine-Saint-Denis). Several dozen people participated, noted the journalist from France Bleu Paris on site. Among the demonstrators, teachers, but also many parents, worried about the shortage of teachers.

Other actions are planned this week, indicates France Bleu Paris. A similar gathering, bringing together parents and teachers, is planned for Tuesday, in front of the town hall of Saint-Ouen. A schools night is to take place later in the week in Montreuil. A citizens’ gathering is also planned at the beginning of May, according to Alixe Rivière, spokesperson for the parents’ union FCPE 93.
