New violence broke out in Alençon, in the Orne, after arrests of drug traffickers on the night of October 26 to 27. According to the prefect, who announces the sending of reinforcements during the day, young people set fire to about fifteen cars before firing projectiles at firefighters and police.
The violence continued until late at night from October 26 to 27 in Alençon (Orne). The Perseigne district caught fire from 11 p.m. Several dozen masked people, some armies of baseball bats, clashed with the police and challenged the firefighters. Calm did not return until around 2:30 a.m. This Wednesday, October 27, in the morning, the police took control of the place and the inhabitants discovered still smoking wrecks. About fifteen vehicles were set on fire. No injuries were recorded.
This violence would be linked to an operation, a few hours earlier, against a drug deal point in the same neighborhood. “Yesterday morning, we had an arrest of two individuals for drug trafficking“, explains Stéphane Tristant, departmental delegate of the Alliance Police Nationale union. For the mayor of Alençon, Joaquim Pueyo, there is an urgent need to curb this trafficking.”Drugs, drug trafficking, it is the endemic evil of certain districts and territories, and this evil tends to increase“, declared the elected.
