“There is one meeting that counted more than all the others,” says Emilie Tran Nguyen to Jean-Jacques Debout, guest this Wednesday, April 17. And she’s not wrong. The meeting in question? The one with the young woman who at the time was not yet the successful singer we know: Chantal Goya.
The two artists have now been married for almost sixty years and it was love at first sight. As revealed in an archive of Chantal Goya broadcast in the show, the couple met at a wedding. The interpreter of “Snipe” knows almost no one at the event, and that’s when Jean-Jacques Debout sits down at the piano. A few minutes later, the pianist of the evening, dressed in a navy sweater, rushes straight towards the young woman, telling her firmly: “We’re going to get married, we’re going to have two children. You’re going to be famous after 30 and I’ll take you to the opera.” Sacred gifts of clairvoyance.
Different lifestyles
On the set of C to youonce again wearing a navy blue sweater – “I put it on on purpose to please him, even if it suits me a little less well than before”, he admits, Jean-Jacques Debout therefore returned to this beautiful love adventure which lasts, despite differences in their lifestyles. He is insomniac and very party-loving, when she goes to bed at 10 p.m.
“We understood at the beginning when we met that everyone had to have their own room. Because couples who don’t have their own room, especially if they are artists, it’s very difficult to live with “confides Jean-Jacques Debout.
The Hallydays, a “lost” couple?
The latter also spoke in a surprising way about his friendship with Johnny Hallyday, and the vision that the rocker had of the perfect couple. “Johnny told me that he no longer believed in artistic couples, it was one of the last conversations I had with him”, says the artist. Le Taulier explained in particular that he could no longer stand having to live with a person who gets up early to go to a film set or who was never present due to filming.
Jean-Jacques Debout thus reveals that this is what directly linked Johnny to Laeticia Hallyday: “Johnny was completely lost, and he met Laeticia on a beach in Miami, and she was also completely lost. And I think that’s what brought them together”, Chantal Goya’s husband confesses today, more than six years after the singer’s death. Two beautiful couple stories, unique in their own way…
