The safe bet
Scoop
No, we do not intend to talk about the rebroadcasts of Réjean Tremblay and Fabienne Larouche’s soap opera on Unis TV. This spring, the Scoop which is worth the detour is available on Netflix. Inspired by real events, this feature film by British director Philip Martin captivates us by revealing the behind-the-scenes of Prince Andrew’s explosive interview on the show BBC Newsnight in 2019. We’re taken inside the journalistic work required to land this tête-à-tête during which the Duke of York (played by Rufus Sewell) detailed his ties to businessman and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein . As a bonus, superb performances from Gillian Anderson, Billie Piper and Keeley Hawes.

The novelty
A house signed Janvier
Coeur de pirate is not the only singer to undertake renovation work on the small screen this spring. In this series directed by Rémy Ouellet (All for a chalet!) and produced by Zone3 (The big Rona construction site), Marie-Ève Janvier realizes a “fantasy”: renovating a house that she bought herself. The problem? Jean-François Breau does not want to move, which generates some moments of pleasant friction within the couple. To convince her partner to embark on the adventure, Marie-Ève Janvier will retain the services of a designer well known to fans of shows of the genre: Érik Maillé. The first episode shows how the beautiful naivety of the host comes up against a wall, due to budgetary issues.
Canal Vie, from Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
The throw of the dice
Save my recipe
This friendly culinary web series offered on Cuisinez, the Télé-Québec platform, has just landed on TV5MondePlus in 150 countries and 25 languages. Its concept in a few words? Imagine that a competitor Chiefs! completely misses his recipe and we ask Christian Bégin, Chef Oli (Olivier Louissaint) and Chloée Deblois (The week of the 4 Julies, Fridays OD) to save furniture in 10 minutes by offering gourmet and anti-waste solutions. Common mistakes our trio has to deal with include chili that’s too spicy, pasta that’s overcooked, hummus that’s too runny, steak that’s too cooked, and béchamel that’s too thick.
The Cuisinez platforms of Télé-Québec (seasons 1-2) and TV5MondePlus (season 1)

Motel Paradise
Originally presented on Club illico in 2022, this genre series co-written and directed by Sophie Deraspe (Black beast, Antigone) paints the portrait of a young woman (played by Nahéma Ricci) who, after coming close to death, convinces a retired investigator (Stéphane Gagnon) to help her elucidate a suspicious affair that occurred three years earlier in her native village, which contains as many well-kept secrets as offbeat inhabitants, including a libidinous rocker (Éric Robidoux), a tough falconer (Larissa Corriveau), a local boss (Gildor Roy) and an exalted mayor/real estate broker (Dominique Quesnel) . Part police thriller, part paranormal drama, Motel Paradise takes us somewhere else entirely.
