After attempting suicide while driving, a father admitted, Friday April 12, to having killed his 3-year-old daughter and his 20-month-old son, whose bodies were found in a field in the Essonne department. The victims were found in Forges-les-Bains, about forty kilometers south of Paris, and the father was placed in police custody, announced the Evry prosecutor’s office. It was extended on Friday evening, the prosecution subsequently informed.
An investigation was opened into assassinations and entrusted to the Palaiseau research brigade as well as the research section of the Paris gendarmerie. “A man tried to kill himself in a car around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. He survived and indicated that he had just killed his two children”which were found where he had indicated he had left them, detailed the public prosecutor. “The family was from Yvelines”, he clarified. The prosecutor did not immediately provide any information on the family or marital context of the case.
While in police custody, he admitted to killing his children with a kitchen knife. During the hearing, although he had difficulty explaining his gesture, it appeared “that the relationships within the couple were conflictual in a context of separation”, specifies the Evry public prosecutor’s office. The mother of the two children filed a complaint against her partner on Thursday afternoon, citing acts of domestic violence committed between December 2023 and February 2, 2024.
