The police are immersed in mystery in Alberta, where a mother and her five children have mysteriously disappeared for almost a month, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police revealed on Tuesday.
Winnie Mani, 39, and her five children aged 13 to 24 have not given any news to their loved ones since April 3 and have not been found for weeks.
It all started when the mother’s younger children stopped attending their school in Lacombe, near Red Deer, halfway between Calgary and Edmonton.
Then, on March 24, Calgary police found Winnie Mani’s vehicle, a black 2013 Dodge Durango, in a parking lot in their jurisdiction, information they shared with RCMP four days later.
The house where the family lived seems uninhabited since mid-March, while the mother’s last contact with her relatives dates back to April 4.
“It’s not normal for a family to abandon their home, their vehicle – there were personal effects in the vehicle – and just leave without having any contact with the people they used to talk to or lived,” commented RCMP spokesperson Troy Savinkoff, quoted by Global News.
RCMP believe the family may have headed to British Columbia. The authorities, who are not planning an Amber Alert at the moment, would like to be able to speak with the mother to ensure that all is well for her and her children.
