Every year, there are an estimated 27 million missed doctor appointments. To combat this, a financial sanction could be put in place, five euros in the event of absence or late cancellation.
Will you think twice before giving your doctor a “fuck”? In any case, this is the ambition of the government which intends to administer a penalty of five euros to patients who do not honor their appointment. Although there are many people in favor of this idea, the main patients’ association denounces a measure of guilt. For its part, the Order of Physicians estimates that 27 million appointments are not kept.
A difficult implementation
To implement this measure, the government plans to ask each patient to give their banking imprint to professionals or to the appointment booking platform. In the event of absence, the doctor will be free to charge or not the sum of five euros. But some practitioners wonder and do not see how such a measure can be implemented.
